She has appeared on children’s programmes like CBBC, helping young viewers and their parents discover the wonder of science. She has also shared her expertise on numerous BBC platforms, bringing complex scientific ideas into everyday life.
Her dedication to education, equality, and communication has earned her recognition in scientific circles and in households across the UK, making her a trusted and beloved voice for families.
Beyond her remarkable achievements in science and broadcasting, Dame Maggie has a personal connection to food allergy advocacy. After the birth of her daughter, she was diagnosed with food allergies, which transformed everyday tasks such as shopping, dining out, or travelling into exercises in careful planning and vigilance. Her lived experience gives her first-hand insight into how exhausting, isolating, and often misunderstood life with food allergies can be.
As an Ambassador for Natasha’s Foundation, Dame Maggie combines her exceptional communication skills with her personal experience to raise awareness, improve understanding, and advocate for safer environments for everyone affected by food allergies.
