Pedalling with Purpose: Charlie’s Big Cycle
Meet Charlie, a young fundraising hero!
Earlier this year, we were delighted to go up to Scotland to visit one of our Natasha Clinical Trial sites, at Edinburgh’s Royal Hospital for Children and Young People. The trial aims to prove that everyday foods, taken under medical supervision, can be an effective NHS treatment for those with food allergies. It was wonderful to meet some of the families on the trial and hear about the amazing impact that oral immunotherapy is having on their lives. The first results are due in 2027 and funding this trial is a major first step in our mission to #MakeAllergyHistory.
On our visit, we met a very special boy called Charlie, one of the patients participating in the Natasha Clinical trial. Charlie is four years old and has a severe allergy to peanuts.
Charlie’s mum, Heather, told us:
“We had the pleasure of meeting Nadim and Tanya, Founders of Natashas Foundation, earlier this year when they visited Edinburgh, they are so inspirational. This experience has led to a lot of questions from Charlie about Natasha, the Foundation, and charities in general.
Charlie was inspired to make a difference and told his parents he wanted to raise money for Natasha’s Foundation to ‘help other boys and girls too.’
Charlie’s Big Cycle
After lots of discussion about how he could raise money, Charlie set himself an incredible challenge. He decided to cycle four laps of the Harlaw Reservoir on 16 August 2025. Charlie wanted to do four laps “because that's my number!”
As the big day approached, friends and family sent wonderful messages of support and donated to Charlie’s fundraiser. His dad Stuart said:
“We can’t quite believe how much has been raised – the generosity of our friends, family and colleagues has been quite overwhelming!”
Making a big difference
We are very excited to share that Charlie’s fundraiser has raised over £1,000!
On behalf of everyone at Natasha’s Foundation, thank you Charlie for your incredible kindness, hard work and determination.
Your phenomenal fundraising has inspired us all and reminded us that you are never too young to make a big difference. Every single penny you have raised means we can continue our vital work to #MakeAllergyHistory.
We hope you feel very proud of what you have accomplished – you are a superstar!
