Megan Lee's Story

We have been working with Megan Lee’s family to produce this powerful video of their tragic story. They wanted to support the campaign to appoint the vital role of an Allergy Tsar by government. Please watch and then sign the petition. We must avoid this ever happening again.

Megan Lee suffered an acute asthma attack after eating food from a takeaway restaurant on the 30th December 2016. Despite her friend detailing her allergies in the online note with the order, Megan suffered an allergic asthmatic reaction.

She died two days later in hospital with irreversible brain damage.
The teenager's meal was found to have the "widespread presence" of peanut protein.

The takeaway was shut down days later following an inspection by Trading Standards and environmental hygiene officers.

The judge said “The Royal Spice had no systems or processes to manage allergen control. The menu contained no information about allergens. No record was kept of the ingredients used in dishes."

In a statement Megan's parents said "Do not guess, do not play ignorant, do not play Russian roulette with precious lives."

Please share and sign the petition for an Allergy Tsar. We need an appointed person in government to co-ordinate the care of those with allergies to keep them safe.
